For more than two decades, Massimiliano Magrini has worked at the intersection of business and technology, helping shape Italy’s digital economy. He was the founding Country Manager of AltaVista and Google Italy before launching Annapurna Ventures in 2009 and co-founding United Ventures in 2013, now one of Europe’s leading venture capital firms focused on technology and innovation.
At United Ventures, he leads the firm’s investment thesis on frontier technologies and partners with founders building category-defining companies. His track record includes the exit of FACEIT, while his current board seats include Exein, a company in embedded cybersecurity, MainStreaming, a video streaming platform, Cloud4Wi, active in location intelligence, Cyberwave, focused on robotics software, and IdentifAI, a deepfake detection company.
A long-standing voice in the European technology ecosystem, he serves on the Participation Committee of the Italian Institute of Technology and advises Italian and EU policymakers pro bono on legislation supporting startups and innovation. He is a keynote speaker, mentor, and the author of Fuori dal gregge, a 2018 essay on entrepreneurship and the conditions that enable innovation. He holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Bologna.
A father of four, he is also learning the craft of winemaking and olive oil production in the Monferrato countryside.
