Matteo Moscarelli
Principal, Early Stage
Matteo joined United Ventures in 2023 as Dealflow Manager, where he focused on sourcing opportunities, engaging with founders, and evaluating early-stage companies. In 2026, he became Principal within the Early Stage team, taking on greater responsibility in leading investments as United Ventures continues to back ambitious founders earlier in their journey.
Matteo is known for his drive, curiosity, and genuine enthusiasm for innovation, combined with a strong understanding of the European startup ecosystem.
Before joining United Ventures, Matteo was a Ventures Associate at Plug and Play, a global innovation platform and venture capital firm, where he supported several early-stage investments and managed relationships with leading corporate partners. He also co-founded FunniFin, an edtech startup focused on making financial education more engaging through gamification.
Matteo has long been active in the startup ecosystem. He has contributed to the Italian Tech Alliance and served as President of Build It Up, a non-profit startup accelerator. He continues to work closely with universities and young entrepreneurs, mentoring at Privilege Student Ventures and serving on the Board of Build It Up.
Matteo holds a Master’s degree from ESCP Business School, with specialisations in Investment Banking and Banking & Finance, and a Bachelor’s degree with honours in Economics and Management from Luiss University.
Outside of work, Matteo enjoys football, skiing, beach volleyball, travelling, watching TV series, and reading.
